Horse Racing Tipster in the UK

January 2011 Review of UK Racing Tips
by NRL Racing January 2011

January saw a resumption to some sort of normality with the New Years day card at Cheltenham where the performance of the day saw Oscar Whisky run out an impressive winner to stamp his claim as a contender for the champion Hurdle but first he willgo for the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las as he is owned by the courses owner Dai Williams. Later on the card saw a great battle when Tartak got the better of Caroles Legacy, and a return to form of Blazing Bailey who will be aimed at one of the festival handicaps but does need a bit of “cut”.

During the month Henderson sent out an army of young novice hurdlers and chasers. On the hurdle front possibly Minella Class is the best of these. His chasers who won well include Quantitiveeasing, Master of the hall, Topsham belle and Georgio quercus, personally I think these are all just short of top class but Finians Rainbow who had virtually a walkover will be looking for one more run for experience and looks a real “arkle” horse.

The King George was held in the middle of the month where we saw a new kid on the block in Long Run take Kautos crown and was very impressive. Cheltenham awaits, personally I am more concerned about the distance than the course. I was very impressed with Riverside Theatre running 3 miles for the fist time but to me looks a perfect Aintree horse (he didn’t handle the arkle till running on late last year).

On the same card we saw the real Binocular, and another horse back to his “hype” days before the triumph last year was Alan Kings Mille Chief who was also very impressive.

Master Minded got the fright of his life by Somersby, I am not convinced Master Minded will ever reach his rating 2 years ago and I think Somersby should go for the queen mother and will have a big chance.

Its great to see the small stable take on the big boys and Paddy Rodfords Sparky May is a revelation, what an engine, would be no surprise to see him pick up a nice prize at Cheltenham, whatever race she goes for.

During the week saw a competive pertemps qualifier ran ragged by Sue Smiths Mr Moonshine but I was equally impressed by Cross Kennon ridden patiently under top weight be closest out the finish, likely to carry between just over 11st in the final and must have a squeak.

The final weekend of the month saw Punchestown run very badly and I think we are unlikely to see him over fences at Cheltenham. The race of the day on paper ended with Bobs Worth beating Rock on Ruby but this was a muddling race and not convinced a winner will come out of this. When on to Grands Crus, what a performance, more by the way he finished up the hill and went into overdrive away from a good field. Match on with Big Bucks. I was also impressed by Bensalem having his first run since a disrupted summer and ran really well until tiring close home, definitely one to watch.

Horses that impressed me with their racing during the month and that I suggest should be followed are:
Riverside Theatre
, Mille Chief, Oscar Whisky, Sparky May, Bensalem and Cross Kennon.
